It’s The End Of The World. Would You Eat Gluten?

2012

Some people think the world as we know it is coming to an end. On December 21st 2012 the world will end, or so some people believe.

However unlikely this may be I’m fascinated by these sorts of crazy predictions and I thought it would be interesting to ask you what you would do if indeed they world were to end in just three short weeks time. Don’t worry, I’m not losing it. This is strictly for fun. 🙂

If you truly believed the world would end this year would you eat gluten in the days or weeks you had left? Would you eat all those gluten filled things that you’ve been missing since going gluten free? Remember there will be no nasty long term consequences as there will be no long term. :-/

If the world ends you won’t have missed out on your favourite pizza, sandwiches, cookies, muffins, cakes and everything else you’ve missed! Or perhaps you have grown to detest gluten so much that you couldn’t bare to let it touch your lips, no matter what tomorrow brings.

It’s your decision. If the end of the world really was upon us would you eat gluten? And if so, what would you eat?

  • No – I wouldn’t eat gluten. My celiacs manifests its self within 20 minutes of eating gluten as extreme peripheral neuropathy. The pain lasts 3-5 days. It doesn’t mean I don’t miss various foods, but I’d rather be pain free heading in to end times 🙂

  • Only if I were getting some kind of “end of the world free pass”, where I didn’t get any symptoms. haha
I only cheated once, and that was early on. The symptoms showed up within hours and was terrible. I’ll bet after 4 more years, they’d probably show up much quicker. So I wouldn’t want to spend my last moments on earth sick either. 😉

  • Croissants! Proper, flaky, buttery, perfect French croissants. And probably a pain au chocolat or two as well… As many as I could fit into the final hour so I ended it all symptom-free! 🙂

  • I think I would have to walk into a restaurant and order one of everything on the menu! It would have to be on the final day though so that could enjoy myself but not feel too crappy before the end of the world 🙂

  • If I could be symptom-free for the last remaining hours, then maybe. I don’t want to go outta here feeling like crap.

Cheese. I’m lactose-intolerant, and living in the Netherlands (where we have amazing cheese), so I’d spend my last hour on Earth trying to eat my body weight in cheese. 🙂
