Gluten Free Persimmon Prosciutto Bites

Persimmon Prosciutto Bites

I’m a big fan of persimmons. I first discovered them whilst living in South Korea. They were everywhere and I loved their crunchy, sweet taste.  Ever since I have been trying to figure out how I could incorporate them into a delicious gluten free snack. They are great on their own of course but sometimes you fancy being a little creative.

For Thanksgiving this year we spent the day at a friends house and what was sitting on the table when we arrived? A delicious snack involving persimmon. If you are looking for a delicious and gluten free appetiser with an autumn feel then these persimmon prosciutto bites are perfect. They are super simple to make too as you only need five ingredients.

Ingredients

  • Persimmon
  • Fig jam
  • Goats Cheese
  • Prosciutto
  • Rocket (arugula for those of you in the US)

How to make it

  • Chop your persimmon into slices
  • Add a small dollop of fig jam to the centre of each slice
  • Add some goats cheese
  • Top the cheese with prosciutto
  • Garnish with rocket and serve

  • Really interested to read this. I’ve just had a Russian friend over to stay from New York where she’s on work secondment for 2 years and she was raving about how much she loves persimmons. I’ve never tried them but am now super keen.

Have you ever seen them in the UK? I keep loooking in my local Waitrose which is usually great for different varieties of fruit but I’ve not seen yet. I wonder if they’re not in season for the UK at the moment?

  • Yes, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen them in the usual places like Tesco and Asda…especially around this time of year (Autumn/Winter). I think we call them Sharon Fruit in the UK.

They are very tasty…simply on their own on incorporated into snacks like this. I hope you find them!
