I love Chex and I love home-made gluten free Chex mix. I’m not sure why the Chex mix you can buy in stores doesn’t have a gluten free variety yet since six of the eight flavours of the cereal are gluten free but sooner or later it’s bound to happen. For now though we celiacs can quite easily make our own. For our wedding John and I made a huge batch for our guests to munch on and it was quite the hit. Just mix everything together in a big bowl and enjoy!
I like the idea of adding peanut or almond butter to one of these mixes, and some of the ideas on the back of the cereal packets call for it, but at the same time I’m not sure I want messy fingers whilst I’m eating it. For now at least, I’m keeping to a less messy Chex mix. 🙂
Sweet & Savoury Mix
This amount should make a couple of servings of this mix so double it for four servings and so on.
- Cup of Rice Chex
- Cup of Honey Nut Chex
- Cup of plain popcorn
- Quarter cup of raisins
- Quarter cup of peanuts
- Teaspoon of Cumin
- Teaspoon of Tumeric
- Red pepper flakes
Sweet Fruity Mix
Another gluten free chex mix I love to make is a sweet, fruity mix with dried pineapple and coconut. Delicious!
- Cup of Corn Chex
- Cup of Honey Nut Chex
- Quarter cup of dried pineapple
- Quarter cup of dried coconut flakes
- Quarter cup of chocolate chips or tablespoon of cocoa
- Quarter cup of golden raisins or sultanas

Dec 7th, 2012Ooh, I miss Chex Mix! I’d love to try a straight-up sweet one. Something like…
cup of Chocolate Chex
cup of Cinnamon Chex
quarter cup mini chocolate chips
cup of Glutino chocolate pretzels
quarter cup mini marshmallows
quarter cup macadamia nuts

Dec 10th, 2012Sounds good! I’m not a huge pretzel fan but if they were covered in chocolate I could definitely do that. I lOVE macadamia nuts too 🙂
