Our Gluten Free Wedding

Our beautiful wedding

John and I were married on July 9th. It was the perfect day. The sun was shining, my favourite guy was telling our friends and family that he vowed to love me forever and my best girl was by my side.

John’s parents yard was a beautiful location, our mismatched, colourful table decorations were homey and sweet and our gluten free food was amazingly delicious! Our lasagna and cake was undoubtedly the best lasagna and cake that I’ve ever tasted and I’m confident that this wasn’t only because we were having the most wonderful day. We continued to eat the leftovers of both for the next four days on our honeymoon road trip back to California and it never stopped being amazingly delicious!

Thank you John’s Grocery for catering our gluten free wedding. Your lasagna and spring time explosion cake really are amazing and were a big hit with our guests, gluten free and gluten loving 🙂

The only glutenous thing at our wedding was the kegs of beer. If finding kegs of gluten free beer had even been possible I’m sure the price would have been ridiculous, especially since I’d much rather have a glass or two of vino anyway. Everything else was completely safe for me to eat and drink. It was nice having a day like that. It doesn’t happen very often.

Lasagna with salad and fruit

The most delicious lasagna ever!!

John and I took it upon ourselves to made the snacks and sides. I made three huge bowls of sweet and spicy gluten free Chex mix (which included Honey Nut Chex, popcorn, raisins, cumin and red pepper flakes )and John made his extra addictive Green Creeper salsa for which we found gluten free chips for dipping.

For the meal, I made three big bowls of fruit salad and John prepared a delicious spinach and avocado salad to go with the lasagna. The centerpieces on our tables were mason jars filled with rainbow coloured gluten free jelly beans and marshmallows. Awe-some! 🙂

It took some planning and preparation to make our wedding gluten free and coeliac safe but it was fun and worth the extra effort to not have to worry about anything on the day. What a perfect gluten free wedding. Thank you to everyone who made the trip to share in our special day.

GF lip balm

I’m not a big make-up fan so I chose to wear only a little pink eye-shadow, mascara and lip balm. I even found an organic and gluten free tinted lip balm to wear. Ecotints. My kisses were definitely 100% gluten free.

We can't get enough of our gluten free cake!

I was happily surprised by the fact that you were cooking for your own wedding 🙂
Here it is very common to see people spending so much money on catering and decoration companies. At the end of the day, they got stuck in debts that will last for years. But here you are on an economic wedding and both looking so happy.

  • Thanks Jason!

Thank you Sofia! Yip, it was very much a home made wedding which was exactly what we wanted. You certainly do not have to spend thousands of dollars to make your day beautiful. You just need to get creative and be willing to spend the time on it. It was so much fun to create how we wanted everything to be and in the end what’s so nice about it is that we know we were the ones that made our beautiful day. We were certainly very happy..oh and my dress was only $100..teehee 🙂

  • What a lovely wedding and beautiful bride (& handsome groom!) May you share a lifetime of love, joy, good health & of course many travels together!

  • YAY YAY YAY, Congrats!!!
