With cottage cheese and rice pasta!

Mmm Pesto!

Want to make some amazingly delicious and interesting gluten free pesto? If you have a food processor then try this! We made it this weekend and it was fantastic. I love regular pesto but I may like this one even more and it’s definitely an interesting alternative. I also adore almonds and cilantro so this was a delicious and fun way to get them both in the same dish.

Gluten Free Beer

Time to grill!

I love BBQs! Who doesn’t? The smell of sausages and burgers (or fish and veggies if you’re not a meat eater!) grilling away on a warm summer day while you sip a chilled cider or glass of vino! A barbecue with friends is a fantastic way to spend a warm afternoon. With the 4th of July coming up I know I’m planning to do some grilling. If you are too, have a read at my tips for keeping your barbecue safe and gluten free. The last thing you want is to get sick as a result of hidden gluten or cross contamination when it could have so easily been avoided. Happy gluten free grilling!

Gluten Free Ottawa

Jun

Parliament Hill

So as you’ve probably noticed from some of my other Canadian posts I’m a pretty big fan of Canada. To me Canada feels like a nice mix, culture and people wise, between the US and the UK which is kind of perfect for my American husband and British me. I’ve spent quite a bit of time in Canada over the years so I’m happy to be writing a post on gluten free finds in Ottawa today. My friend and fellow gluten free travelling celiac, Sile Farrell, spent some time in Ottawa on her recent gluten free Canadian adventure and it was great to speak to her about her trip. So where can a celiac eat safely in the lovely Canadian capital? Here are a few gluten free possiblities..

Niagara Falls Gluten Free

Spectacular

On her trip to Toronto my lovely friend and fellow celiac, Sile Farrell, also visited Niagara Falls where she came across some celiac friendly options. When I lived in Toronto a good friend of mine lived in Niagara so I spent quite a bit of time there, both in summer when tourists were buzzing around everywhere and also in winter when it was freezing but still beautiful. I look forward to returning to the area to try some of these gluten free options.

What Do Celiacs Eat For Dinner?

Chilli con carne

Honey pork

Gluten free dinner time for me tends to involve a lot of different veggies plus tofu, egg, beans, meat, fish or a combination. In terms of gluten free grains I like rice, quinoa and amaranth. My favourite gluten free dinner of all time is probably chilli con carne. I also love egg, veggie and kimchi fried rice! Simple, tasty and a great way to use up leftover vegetables. Every now and again (like yesterday!) nothing beats a big bowl of gluten free cereal for dinner! 😀

To keep meals interesting and to introduce new gluten free foods into my diet I’m always looking for new ideas to try. Yesterday I asked you what you like to eat for gluten free dinner and this is what you said. Perhaps some of these ideas will inspire your next gluten free meal…

Is Listerine Gluten Free?

Listerine

I’ve been using Listerine mouthwash on and off for years now. I remember checking what was probably a couple of years ago now that the variety I was using was gluten free and safe for me to use but since it had been a while I decided it would be a good idea to double check again just to be on the safe side. I was also in the UK then whereas I’m in the US now. Manufacturing processes can differ from country to country.

Ever wonder what celiacs eat for breakfast? Perhaps you are a newly diagnosed celiac looking for safe options for a morning meal which can often be high in gluten or maybe you’re a long time celiac looking for new gluten free breakfast ideas. Gluten Free Palo Alto

Lots of gluten free food!

Yummy Asian Box

Last week I found myself in Palo Alto for the first time. Palo Alto is about 35 miles south of San Francisco and it’s famous for Stanford University and the headquarters of many huge tech companies such as Google and Facebook. I was there for a gluten free business lunch. The search was on to find safe, celiac friendly options.
